Movie 1

We are arriving on the 25th of September in the year 2030 in front of the Öresund bridge. A new type of wind turbine is turning around to produce electricity in quantities which ten years ago were estimated not to be possible. The rising demand for clean energy had been a propellant to convert more and more wind energy with the RES - Giga tube at lower cost. How could this mutation leap in the conversion of wind energy happen? Unprejudiced SURVEY of wind turbines, state of the art in the year 2020 and also present in the GIF revealed that three quarters of the structural mass are serving the purpose to install a generator at 140 meters above sea level while the rotor accounts only about one quarter to the total mass of the turbine. At the time development of a new kind of wind turbine already had begun and on the 25th of September 2020 a new design saw the light of the day for the first time. From than on the success of the RES - Giga tube was worldwide. Later on it has been acknowledged that the fusion of the turbines load bearing structure with the rotor had been a very good idea. Radically simplifying the blueprint for a wind turbine the load bearing structure now almost entirely was made up of a multitude of rotor blades connected among each other to form a rotational hyperbolic grid shell structure. Twenty meters above sea level the generator is integrated in a ring shaped base. The rotor blades of the RES - Giga Tube wind turbine change their orientation to the orbit at each nodal joint of the grid shell structure. Therefore it was possible to reduce the overturning moment at the base substantially.

Movie 2

Offshore on the North Sea the Res-Giga Tube with flipped over rotor blades can convert kinetic energy of wind into electricity up to 50 MW and more per unit. The Res-Giga Tube is approximately 480 meters high and has a diameter of about 200 meters at its base. The asymmetric profiled rotor blades are regularly flipped over at nodal connectors of the grid shell structure, to change their suction side from the outside to he inside of the orbit. Lambda reaches up to five times the wind speed, allowing the suction forces resulting from uplift, - which by the way is one third higher in comparison to a symmetric profile - to be balanced between the leeward half and the wind ward half of the turbine's orbit and vice versa. One revolution of the giant tube lasts more than a minute which is important for its impact on the ecosystem as well as for its visible impression. The structure of the Giga Tube is a hyperbolic grid shell with rigid connections between the rotor blades.

RES - Giga Tube, Osaka Bay
#towhomitmayconcern : Pacific Wind at Oasaka Bay #resgigatube #respentagon PCT application published with examiners report : https://lnkd.in/et9qwc6S Patent granted in Germany : https://lnkd.in/eVcSpURp https://lnkd.in/e9Jzkm5W Listen mariners, when it comes to convert the energy of the wind, it is much better to do so by sailing than to ride a merry-go-round! Three of them giants are revolving in Osaka bay just in front of the Akashi peninsula. In the background we see the Akashi Kaikyo suspension bridge. The rotor of each VAWT has a diameter of 240 meters and is 630 meters tall, covering an inflow area of about 151.000 square meters. At wind speeds of 12 m/s, just one GigaTube will deliver 80 MW, and even more at wind speeds of 15 m/s, when the conventional technique already requires stall regulation, continues to convert energy up to 155 MW and beyond. The total weight of the steel construction will sum up to about 20.000 t resulting in a power to weight ratio of 250 t per MW. This is four times less than the power to weight ratio of a conventional 7 MW wind turbine. Lightweight construction with steel not only cuts down construction costs effectively , due to a modular building system, that easily can be assembled and disassembled as well as it can be completely recycled, it also leads to a drastic reduction in electricity production costs which is crucial for success in the necessary transformation process from fossil based to green energy production. #osaka #bayarea #japan #pacific #windenergy #resblade #reswindpower #resactuator #offshorewind #windindustry #windenergy #windturbines #enerytransition #energyabundance #steel #steelconstruction #elektromagnets #structuralsteel #weldedsteel #steelmoduls #magneticlevitation #steelperformance #respentagon #stuttgart #uni #sailing #sailor #mariner www.res-institute.com

RES - Giga Tube, Queen of the Baltic Sea
#towhomitmayconcern : Patent granted for the Queen of the Baltic Sea. PCT application published with examiner report ! https://lnkd.in/et9qwc6S Listen mariners, when it comes to convert the energy of the wind, it is much better to do so by sailing than to ride a merry-go-round ! Imagine a wind turbine with an inflow area of about 151.000 square meters, that at wind speeds of 15m/s delivers up to 155 MW and on top of this, at wind speeds above 15 m/s, when the conventional technique already is in stall position continues to deliver even more energy. Yes, this wind turbine exists as a design: #respentagon. Less weight - that also means a drastic reduction in electricity generation costs ! The wind turbine is made of a lightweight steel structure that can be easily assembled, disassembled and recycled. Here just some advantages of the design associated with the structure : Instead of a mast, a very stiff, huge cylinder, built as an airy lattice shell structure, absorbs the entire bending moment. The cylinder has transverse stiffeners made of circumferentially sub-spanned compression rings, so that the cylinder acts like a giant bamboo, as it were, to form a tube structure that is stiff in bending, shear and torsion. The central segment of the three-part rotor blade is a vertical tower housing an elevator shaft and a staircase, giving access to electrical actuators for the swivable and non load bearing leading- and trailing edge segments of the rotor blade, throughout the entire length of each of the five towers. In a regular spacing the five towers are interconnected by eight circular ring beams, that together with a vertical cross bracing make up the airy grid shell structure of the giant rotor. The suction side of the rotor blade is changed always perpendicular to the respective direction of the wind by vertically regular spaced actuators in such way that the suction side of the asymmetric wing profile is oriented leewards, whereby a diameter with turning points can be aligned perpendicular to the respective wind direction. The change of the suction side on the rotor blades takes a while and is very helpful to reduce stress peaks caused by abrupt load changes, which beside the poor performance are a major disadvantage of a conventional Darrieus rotor. There is so much kinetic energy in our gaseous atmosphere that it is easily sufficient to organize growth through regenerative energy. The entire wind energy industry is ripe for a mutational leap. https://lnkd.in/eVcSpURp #resgigatube #resblade #reswindpower #resactuator #offshorewind #windindustry #greenenergy #windenergy #windturbines #enerytransition #energyabundance #steel #steelconstruction #elektromagnets #structuralsteel #steelcabels #weldedsteel #steelmoduls #magneticlevitation #steelperformance #sustainable #sailing #sailor #mariner www.res-institute.com

RES - Giga Tube, Structural System
#towhomitmayconcern : Patent granted. PCT application published with examiner report ! https://lnkd.in/et9qwc6S #isaset2024 : Monday March 18th - Presentation of #respentagon, a VAWT that will deliver 80 MW. https://lnkd.in/dGUwqGx When it comes to converting the energy of the wind, it is much better to sail than to ride a merry-go-round! The video shows the red, load-bearing central segment of just one of the five three-part rotor blades. Similar to a sailing yacht, the rotor blade rotates around the rotor's axis of rotation and completes a turn of its suction side with an adjustable diameter perpendicular to the wind direction. The 18 m long and 3 m thick profile is temporarily symmetrical. The load-bearing central steel segment of the blade houses a staircase, an elevator shaft and electric actuators designed with a step-lock gearbox to shift the suction side of the rotor blade. The VAWT's rotor is 240 metres in diameter, 630 metres high and covers an intake area of approximately 151,000 square metres. A single GigaTube will deliver 80 MW at wind speeds of 12 m/s, and up to 155 MW and more at 15 m/s, where conventional technology requires pitch control. The total weight of the steel structure will be around 20,000 tonnes, resulting in a power-to-weight ratio of 250 tonnes per MW. This is four times less than the power-to-weight ratio of a conventional 7 MW wind turbine. Lightweight steel construction not only reduces construction costs through a modular building system that can be easily assembled, disassembled and fully recycled, but also leads to a dramatic reduction in electricity generation costs, which is critical to the success of the necessary transition from fossil to green energy generation. #respentagon #reswindpower #resgigatube #resblade #reswindpower #resactuator #offshorewind #windindustry #greenenergy #windenergy #windturbines #enerytransition #energyabundance #steel #steelconstruction #elektromagnets #structuralsteel #steelcabels #weldedsteel #steelmoduls #magneticlevitation #steelperformance #sustainable #sailing #sailor #mariner www.res-institute.com
